Welcome to my world

Hi, I’m Sunil Singh
a UX/UI Designer.

UI/UX designer with more than 13 years of expertise in the field. I have honed a good eye for designing user interfaces that are both visually beautiful and understandable throughout my career. My area of expertise is creating user-friendly interfaces for websites, mobile apps, and other digital platforms with the goal of maximizing customer satisfaction.

My Design Process

Step-1

Product Planning/Defining

In the initial phase, it's important to figure out precisely what is being built and why. Why is there a need for this product? For whom are you creating this? What business-related problems will it fix? You'll likely have a list of requirements and a low-resolution concept design to work with at this first kick-off meeting. You now have a simple framework that you can use for the following procedure.

Conduct a team-wide project kickoff meeting with the below following steps:

4.30/5

Brainstorming the product’s concept and purpose

4.50/5

Strategy is a crucial part from the start because it articulates the brand, guiding principles, and long-term vision of an organization. The strategy underpinning a UX project will shape the goals of the project. Creating a value proposition that details the advantages the product will offer the consumer, how it will address the user's problems, and unique selling features and competitive advantages.

Evaluating the project’s needs

4.80/5

Defining the necessary resources in terms of finance, workforce, and other resources, as well as programs to make this a success.

Deciding on deliverables and KPIs

4.80/5

You can focus on results that enhance efficiency while matching your business goals with those of the user by setting goals that are SMART - Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Timely.

Identifying Problems

4.80/5

Trying to plan for potential problems and identify possible reasons for these bottlenecks, such as a tight budget, a lack of personnel, a difficult customer or work, etc.

Building Expectations and a Schedule

4.80/5

Choosing reasonable intervals and deadlines for a UX design project can help you stay committed to what you can produce. Consider each component of the UX design carefully and attempt to estimate the time needed to complete it while taking the problems from earlier stages into consideration. “If you apply 100% user-centric design only, it will always conflict with business goals at some point. Some customers could want a non-scalable solution that meets their particular needs. Of course, you should pay attention to what they have to say, but make sure it aligns with the objectives and strategy of the business."

Step-2

User Research

It is crucial for your UX design team to get user feedback at each stage of the design process in order to create a final product that appeals to your target audience. To better understand your target audience's goals and how your UX design might assist them in achieving those goals, you should undertake in-depth research on them before beginning the actual UX design. This research should cover their pain areas, needs, habits, and expectations.

There are several UX research methods you can employ at this stage, here’s a few of them:

4.30/5

User interviews

4.50/5

If we use website UX design as an example, some of the typical questions when interviewing your potential users may include. You can learn about user seeks and problems by conducting interviews with users who belong to the target population.

What issues do you normally encounter while using the competitor's websites?
What would you like to see improved?
What should an ideal website contain?
How would you rate our current menu navigation on a scale from 1 to 10? and so on.

Focus on Group Discussion

4.80/5

Hand-pick a group of target users for an in-depth discussion on their pain points, expectations, and feelings toward a design prototype or a finished product.

Questionnaire Surveys

4.50/5

Conducted surveys of several groups within your target market. An inquiry with inquiries especially designed for various groups within your target audience could contain:

Provide useful details to help prospective users understand you better.
Minimize the possibility of creating an inferior product.
Collect significant quantitative data sets, then look for trends among various user groups.
Assess usability, for example, utilizing the System Usability Scale (SUS), a scoring method that is considered industry-standard will give you a survey form and will enable you to compare results with those of similar products.
Provide stakeholders assurance in designs supported by evidence.

User Persona

4.80/5

Design personas focus on consumers' goals, existing behaviors, and pain problems rather than their media and purchasing preferences and activities. They are based on field research and real people. By sharing a tale and elaborating on why individuals act the way they do, they aim to help everyone involved in designing and creating a product or service comprehend, relate to, and remember the end user throughout the whole product development process. Design personas are useful for defining a product or service, comprehending and focusing on particular user types, avoiding the elastic user, and self-referential design. They are also good at expressing user goals and research discoveries.

Step-3

Designing Product

It's time to start outlining some concepts for how your users will interact with your interface once you have a solid grasp of them and a strategy for moving forward. Here is when you'll start to consider things like the overall design, the navigation, and particular page features.

The user experience must be considered first and foremost in this scenario. How are they going to use your interface? What facts must they be able to locate quickly? You can begin to get a good idea of what your interface should look like by responding to these questions.

You can now begin spending more effort on the design stage. There are various crucial steps in this, such as:
Sketching Ideas
Defining the Information Architecture (IA)
Navigation Structure
Wireframing Layout
Mapping Out The User Journey/Flow
Usability and Accessibility
Creating A Prototype, (i) Low-Fidelity Prototypes (ii) Mid-Fidelity Prototypes and (iii) High-Fidelity Prototypes

4.30/5

Sketching Ideas

4.80/5

Sketches are brief, simplistic drawings used by designers to propose and enhance designs. They enable you to be creative, record ideas, receive and provide feedback, and collaborate on which designs to pursue.

Defining the Information architecture (IA)

4.80/5

Information architecture (IA) is the process of organizing and categorizing the content and structure of your website, app, or other product to reduce information overload. Users may access the precise information they require at any time thanks to this user-friendly design.

Card sorting and tree testing are two methods that are frequently used to define a good IA. These assist you in understanding how consumers view material and information as well as where in the user journey they anticipate finding certain pieces of content.

Wireframing Layout

4.80/5

Wireframing is creating a “skeleton” for the final product or a simplified representation of the end product.

For example, a wireframe for a website's user experience (UX) design provides the intended appearance and structure of each page, along with placeholders for all suggested parts, modules, and content in specific locations on each page.

Before starting the prototyping process, stakeholders can provide input on the design using wireframes to help express the design concepts and comments.

Mapping Out The User Journey/Flow

4.80/5

Map out the user flow to visualize the various paths and interactions a user can have. This will help you in figuring out how to best get the user there at each stage and where to lead them.

Any user flow that goes beyond the scope of pure functionality should be considered a discussion with real-world interactions rather than a machine-like interface. Consider how you would feel if someone treated you in this manner. It's comparable to using a vending machine as opposed to going to your favorite bakery, being welcomed with a smile, having the baker already know which muffin you like, being offered a free profiterole, and feeling thrilled as you leave. An experience can be greatly impacted by little things!

How to lead a person from the home page to registration and everything in between can be a normal flow.

Usability and Accessibility

4.80/5

Whether you are creating a website or an application, you are eventually creating a service or good for the benefit of others rather than yourself. As a result, designing is about creating something that people will love using rather than just what you think looks beautiful. Additionally, your product must be accessible to as many individuals as possible without excluding any potential customers, such as those who may have difficulty accessing websites and applications due to mental or physical disabilities. Here, taking accessibility and usability into onsideration can be beneficial.

Accessibility is not a synonym for usability. the two terms have distinct meanings. However, great usability includes great accessibility. If your users cannot access your website or app, this is not really usable. Usability and the path the user takes to complete their tasks are both important in web and app design.

The purpose of Accessibility is to ensure that everyone has access to a good user experience, no matter how they view a product. Some examples of accessibility design options include:

Using the proper font size to make the text readable for everyone, even those with low eyesight.
Having appropriate color contrast between the background and the text helps those who have color blindness or low vision to understand the content on the screen.
Including alt text on images to help visually impaired users understand what an image is.
Using the proper typography to make content easier to read for those who suffer from reading or a similar handicap.
including straightforward navigational elements, like a "back to top" button at the bottom of the page, to make the website easier to navigate for users with motor impairments.
Direct navigation, which makes it simple for users with disabilities to navigate a website or application.

In terms of digital design, Usability refers to how quickly and easily a user can meet their goals when using a website or application. Usability is concerned with making sure that everyone can use a product once they have access to it. Usability design choices should include examples such as:

Are the links and buttons users expect to see there?
Do buttons and other items that can be clicked appear to be clickable?
Is it clear from reading the text on a button where it will take the user?
Can a user reach all the important buttons on mobile devices using just one of their thumbs?
Does the navigation make it easy for users to find the information they need?
Can users scan a page easily?
Are there any visual clues to let the user know that the website has identified their input, such as buttons that change color when clicked or loading screen animation?
Are forms completely filled out and are there controls in place to avoid mistakes like submitting a form with blank fields?

Interaction Prototypes

4.80/5

A prototype is a scaled-down version of the final product's design. Wireframes are created far earlier in the product development process than prototypes. These are frequently used to test prototypes and communicate ideas and design concepts to stakeholders and potential users. You will combine low, mid, and high-quality prototyping within the UX design process, which is something that can and should be done.

Simple sketches, storyboards, mood boards, paper or cardboard models, or a skit of a service offering are all examples of prototypes. This means that a prototype doesn’t always have to be tangible. In fact, a prototype doesn’t have to be complete either. A small part of a proposed product solution or service offering can just as easily be prototyped to test.

Prototypes can be divided into three categories based on their complexity and development level.

Low-fidelity Prototypes

At an early stage in the design process, the most basic type of prototype can be used to stimulate creativity and innovation.
Only the essential components of design and content are included, such as forms and a simple visual hierarchy.
Depending on the level of detail you would like to achieve. there are a few different ways to create a prototype. You can create a prototype on paper or in code. Let's talk about what that entails.
Quick to create and inexpensive. You only need a maker pen and paper to create prototypes, making the process cheap and accessible.

Mid-fidelity Prototypes

It can be used when the design is still being developed. Helping your teams move from the conceptual to the execution phase. Limited capacity, but useful for the testing process.
used to test interaction concepts, speed up the conception to implementation phase, and cut out needless design later in the process.

High-fidelity Prototypes

As close to the final design as possible.
Used to assess usability or achieve final design approval.
There are all design and content components.
Take longer to create, and can be expensive.

Step-4

Visual Design Testing and Deliver

It's quite challenging to get this UI component right. One reason could be that some startups don't make an effort to work hard on their initial or beta releases. However, UX and UI will eventually need to work closely together.

Sometimes, UI and UX use very different approaches, therefore communication between the two is necessary. Follow strict standards for font size, color, and spacing. We routinely developed UI style guides in order to preserve consistency in our designs.

As part of the UX process, we still need to take into account each UI element's usability (form label placements, button sizes, etc.). One of the most important aspects of the ongoing design work is the UI style guide.

Step-5

Analyze - Validate Designs

You must evaluate the findings following each round of testing in order to figure out how to proceed. If major issues are found, you'll probably need to refine your solution again and again before it's perfect. This entails outlining the problems you've found, sorting them according to similarities, and ranking them in order of importance for users and severity.

Working with stakeholders on research findings is a part of the last stage of UX design. For the purpose of deciding on and planning for next steps, consult product management and researchers.

4.30/5

Final Conclusion

4.80/5

As our products grow further, we will repeat the first step's processes of research, then analysis, then design, and then validation. This is one of the regular processes that all digital background companies apply. You will come across a variety of techniques or scales, depending on the size of your team and how staged your project is. When a product becomes large enough, other difficulties arise, such as how to retain designs and make the process efficient as the team grows and the product becomes more complex. I've just given you a brief overview of the UX design process.
